The original goths

Been doing alot of reading on queen victoria lately, and learning some interesting tidbits on the way.
After the death of Prince Albert in 1861, Queen Victoria went into deep mourning, increasing the public's demand for formal mourning attire. For women during the Victorian period, mourning attire included every conceivable article of clothing as well as hair accessories, stationery, umbrellas, fans, and purses. Funerals became more elaborate, and due to the high mortality rate at the time, mourning was commonplace. Around the same time, Gothic fiction (Dracula, wuthering heights, phantom of the opera, etc) became popular, and a fascination with morbidity was almost fashionable.

"four crying women" 1878.
(wearing traditional Victorian mourning dress)
Which brings us to neo-victorian gothic. My favourite fashion niche. And the wonderful work of Gallery Serpentine Love love love.

Recently I've been developing a thing for miniatures. Particularly miniature food... It all started with this ring from SouZou Creations with its tiny pancakes and tiny floating syrup jug:
But the love has blossomed and i am now obsessed with all kinds of tiny food!
Tiny sushi:
Tiny baked goods:
Tiny fruit:
all of which would be eaten at a tiny tiny dining table, in a tiny tiny house, by tiny tiny fairy people.
...Yeah, I never really grew up.

off with the faeries

I've always loved this kind of grown up faerie style,  not the hot pink glitter encrusted 5 year-old fairy but delicate, opulent, and most importantly organic. Wouldn't this be beautiful for a wedding or a grown-up faerie party?

Gothic lolita

One day, when i have a million dollars, my wardrobe will be entirely consistent of neo-victoriana and Gothic Lolita. So sweet and girly, but at the same time kinda dark. Love love.

Have loved this movie since i first saw it. Perfect combination of victoriana, theatre, and lovely ladies. Re-watched it recently and remembered how much i love this dress:

So much floof!
One day, Ill duplicate it for myself....
